BLAZE!

This is my second Blaze Little Golden Book. At first, I was worried I wouldn't enjoy illustrating vehicles, but I eventually fell in love with this character and the "monster machine" world. It probably helps that my son loves Blaze, too! (Click on images to enlarge.)

Books. Lots of books.

I finally tried to count the other day. I think I can honestly say that there are at least 32 books that I have illustrated since 2000, when I began. Many are already out of print, but I keep a little stash of them in my sideboard. Here are some covers I grabbed for a presentation I gave to some students recently. Totally crazy. I feel blessed....old....but blessed.

Princess Leia

This Little Golden Book is titled, "I Am a Princess." I illustrated this before Carrie Fisher's tragic passing. This was a huge honor.

Albert

I'm super proud of this Big Golden Book called "Albert." It is based on a Nickelodeon Movie with the same name. I had to speed this along while the movie was being made, which was tricky. I think I got the color all wrong on his ornaments, but what a fun little guy!

Blaze

Here is a spread from the new Little Golden Book with Blaze and the Monster Machines! (My son approves of this book.)

Paw Patrol

Most of my Paw Patrol Work is not worth posting, though these little guys have been keeping me busy of late! Most of my work is 2-D, drawings that never go past the grayscale stage. The CG masters take it from there. This is the design for a Spring DVD.

The Doc Is In...

I was asked to create a Doc McStuffins Golden Book. The style was set by previous books, but still, what a privilege and so much fun!

DVDs

These are some of the DVD covers done over the past year or two. The Kah-Rah-Tay pose answers the question of how one can make Spongebob have angry eyes, but no frown. Cheaty cheaty...

Distortions Can Occur

The final print is never quite the same as the original. Characters and layouts get blown up to maximize the space. Here is the spread on pages 4-5 as it looked B.E. (Before edit.)

Savannah as Elsa and Anna from FROZEN

I love watching my little one dress up as a princess. I'm always tucking her dark blonde curls up under the fancy wig, and it occurred to me one day how wonderful it would be to see some artwork of our little girls poking out from underneath those costumes, tennis shoes and all.

Some packaging design I did for SpongeBob. They re-released all the seasons with a slightly different design twist.

The True Disney Princesses

Princesses held no interest for me until Savannah came along. I'd venture to say that princesses held no interest for Savannah until Katielyn came along and told her all about them. Although Katie could not be with us on our cruise, I've re-imagined what it would have been like for the girls to be surrounded in a sea of royalty. Anyone can dress like a princess. These particular ladies, however, are true sweethearts and therefore, the real deal . Here are two best friends with "The True Disney Princesses" from the Disney Wonder!
